Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!

The approaching date and upcoming Valentine’s themed wedding shower reminded me to post my final invitation that was sent out. I have been gearing up and playing with watercolor. I want to use it in my own wedding invitations that I need to start working on, so I started the experiment with Brittany and Scott’s couples shower invitations.

The heart is so fun and bold, that I kept the type clean and simple to make everything pop. I am so in love with how they turned out and can’t wait to play with this style in the future. Other than the invitations I have been dreaming up creative decorations for the party which include signs, two pinatas and advice cards (see below) that will later be turned into a garland for the happy couple. The party should look fabulous and festive!

Wedding Shower Comps

Another project connected to Brittany and Scott’s spring wedding. Instead of going the normal bridal shower route, the future Westerman’s are having a Valentine’s themed couples shower.

Here are my first ideas… not yet finished with the exploration process.

Griff’s Birthday!

So much as been going on that I haven’t posted in ages!

I have been doing a lot of work for my fabulous friends, Brittany and Scott. They had a beautiful son a year ago today! I had the honor of designing Brittany’s Baby Shower invitations (see below) back then and this year I was asked to design Griffin’s 1st Birthday Party invitations. I based the design off of the original design from a year ago, but jazzed it up with a mustache which was requested. Both invitations were so fun to design and I look forward to may more birthday’s to come for Mr. Griffles.

Happy Birthday little man!

Save the Date

So as many of my friends know… I am very into stationary. I would love to get into the game and try doing it full time one day. Until then, I have awesome friends who hire me to create invitations and wedding suites for them. I have at least 3 on the books right now and the first to kick off the 2012 wedding season is my friend Brittany.

I have done quite a few pieces for Brittany in the past, but her wedding suite takes the cake! We dreamed up some great ideas and I took on some custom type and illustration. The first comp (seen below) was based off a quote Brittany loved and it was turned into a postcard to save on packaging and postage. However, like many weddings, the vision evolved and a more elegant and simplified approach with some color was requested.

My approach was take the flourishes from the custom type and turn them into an ornate pattern to be used on the edges of the final pieces which is seen on the final invite. I am very proud of the final results. The icing on the cake would have been to get it letterpressed, alas budget doesn’t always allow for the extra touch.

Wandering Poste has a New Home!

As you can see, there is no card posted here for today. That is because today is the launch of WanderingPoste.com. Please wander over that way to find the my daily postcard moving forward.

I tried to make things more organized and make it easier for everyone to view the cards and sort. Hopefully you like it! You can find the daily posts in a blog format or view by destinations (where each postcard was sent). Enjoy!

Oh and any feedback is welcome.
